Saturday 14th August saw the first ever running of the Spruce Lodge Bursary Awards, a competition for riders under 25 who have progressed beyond the Silver Spurs.
Both the semi-final placings and the final placings in the HSI Silver Spurs were determined in glorious sunshine at Marlton Stud on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th of August.
Following the completion of the last two HSI Silver Spurs qualifiers, results of all the qualifiers and the final leader board are now available.
The Silver Spurs committee, together with Joan Keogh of Spruce Lodge, are pleased to announce a competition which is loosely based on British Young Riders Dressage Scheme 'Young Professionals' and 'Search for the Stars' competitions. The competition itself comprises of an open class in which riders compete their mounts in two predetermined tests at their chosen level, the highest scoring six then go forward to an afternoon session with an international trainer and rider to assess their trainability, technique and understanding of the training scales both in a theoretical and practical sense.
The 'Spruce Lodge Bursary Awards' will be open to riders who have not had their 25th birthday on 01.01.2010. This competition will be integrated into the Silver Spurs Semi-Final day at Marlton Stud on August 13th, making this a very significant and exciting day of competition for young riders of all levels.
See Spruce Lodge Bursary Awards FAQ for further details.

Change with regard to qualification time span for National Championships 2010.
Due to the high cost of printing schedules, packaging and posting, Dressage Ireland took the decision at the beginning of the year not to have their bi-annual schedule printed any longer.
In the past we have also noted that the printed version of the schedule is out of date before it reaches its members, and is the cause of confusion because of amendments.
From now on (Summer 2010), all information with regard Dressage Ireland shows, training, news, highlights, and so on will be posted on our website.
Our members are advised to keep themselves up to date through the website, but can always contact the office for further details.
All riders competing at National shows outside of Ireland are requested to inform the office of their competition plans.
After returning to Ireland (or sooner if possible), ALL results MUST be sent to the office.
Results must include: Rider and membership no – horse and registration no – classes and the results, together with the judges names for each class.
From 15 June 2009 Dressage Ireland will need to make a small charge for personal advertising on the website to cover administration costs.

Dressage Ireland is very grateful to the Irish Horse Board, The Irish Sports Council and Horse Sport Ireland for their continued support of the sport of dressage in Ireland. Once again this year an allocation from the proceeds of the National Lottery to the Irish Sports Council has made this funding possible. |
