HSI National Anti-Doping Programme - Testing Veterinarians
Horse Sport Ireland is seeking to create a panel of veterinarians to provide the service of sampling horses at equestrian events, as part of Horse Sport Ireland’s new Anti-Doping and Medication Control Programme. The Rules of the programme can be found on www.horsesportireland.ie.
Short-listing may apply and veterinarians who are selected as part of the panel will be expected to participate in a training programme covering all aspects of the new programme.
Veterinarians providing the service will receive fees based on daily or half-daily rates for completing the testing process in line with all of the requirements of the programme.
To be eligible to apply, veterinarians must hold a recognised veterinary qualification and be registered with either the Veterinary Council of Ireland or the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
A short letter of application, setting out the applicant’s relevant experience, should be sent to on or before Friday 23rd March 2012.
HSI National Anti-Doping Seminars
Horse Sport Ireland will be implementing a National Anti-Doping Programme across all Equestrian Affiliates, including Showjumping, Eventing and Dressage, from April 1st 2012.
As part of the roll-out of the programme, Horse Sport Ireland are running four information evenings for riders, owners, grooms and any other interested parties.
The information evenings will deal with the following topics:
- The new HSI anti-doping rules
- The prohibited substances list
- Procedures at events/shows
- International experience in doping control
Speakers will include Team Ireland Equestrian Vets and the Irish Equine Centre.
The dates for the meetings are:

Friary Road, Co. Armagh - Wednesday, 28th March - Ard Ri House Hotel,

Charleville, Co. Cork
