As a trial, the board of Dressage Ireland and the organizing committee of the Cavan Dressage Festival have decided to merge the Winter Finals and the Festival for 2011. This means that our members can enter the Winter Finals as usual or enter the Cavan Dressage Festival as usual but now have the option of entering a combined show. The aim is to make it more affordable to compete at both shows. We have produced schedules for the Winter Finals and the Cavan Festival but for those that want to compete at both we have a combined schedule which will be significantly cheaper to enter.
There will be a prize giving for the Winter Finals on the Saturday night and a prize giving for the Cavan Festival on the Sunday evening.
With merging the two shows there are a few issues regarding qualification which we have tried to explain below;
Qualification period for Winter Finals 2011: 1 October 2010 till 10 April 2011.
A horse can only qualify for a championship level if the qualifications are gained in full before the horse is out of that level.
This means that if you get your two qualifying scores at preliminary level you can compete at the Winter Finals at preliminary level even if your horse has moved to novice level during the winter season. However, when entering the Cavan Festival you must enter at the level your horse's points is currently at.
What this means is that a horse could qualify for preliminary level for the Winter Finals but because of points gained have to ride novice level for the Cavan Festival.
This will only affect horses that have to move up a level during the winter season.
If you think this is going to affect you and you do not fully understand the ruling please contact the secretary.
NO qualification is required for the Cavan Festival.
