The Annual Judge Gala, with Peter Holler at Kill EC
Peter Holler, renowned international trainer and judge, was the lecturer this time at Kill EC, for the Judge Gala which was organized by Dressage Ireland and partly funded by Skillnet.
The day started with a Power Point presentation on the Scales of Training and this was found to be of great interest.
Further information and guidelines on this can be found in the FEI Guidelines for Judges book.
After the theory session, 3 of Dressage Ireland’s top riders showed us work and test riding at the lower levels, on “every day, run of the mill” horses and ponies.
The training scale of the theory morning was put into practice, and everyone had a chance to judge these for themselves and compare notes with Peter Holler during his assessment.
A beautifully presented sit down meal was once again provided by “Corporate Cuisine”, and after the 2011 upgraded judges were presented with their certificate, it was back down to business in the indoor arena.
Elementary work and test riding started off the afternoon, which was then followed by more advanced work by the 3 riders on their own horses.
Thanks must go to the Judges Committee and the guinea pigs, Heike, Kate and Sandra.
